Hi everyone, this week I was reading an article on how famous people (singers, actors, footballers etc) must be good role models to young people; that is, they must act responsibly because they influence millions of young people. Miley Cyrus was particularly criticised for her new video (below), which many deam to be "too sexy" for her young fan base and thus not suitable. Take a look at the video and let me know what you think? Do you think that famous people have a duty to society to act in a specific way? Or do you think they should be free to do as they wish? Hi!! I think that it’ is a complicated topic especially, when a singer or an actor has been categorised in a special role as the case of Miley Cyrus… she’s best know like Hanna Montanah around the world and all her fans are children but she is tired of being an infantile character, she’s growing up, she’s beautiful and she want to show her own personality, for me it’s not bad because I’m older and I can be responsible of the thinks that I listen or saw, the problem are her young fans because they admire her and they think that all that she does is right and they try to imitate her but her behaviour can influence them in a negative way, that’s the sad price that they have to pay for being role models to young people...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment :) I think it is a tough one because it is difficult for people to say what someone can and cannot do! We are all individuals and thus have the right to act as we wish (within reason!) However, I can see why people get upset when children's "role models" act in ways that parents do not like! Ultimately, I think we have to respect the right of individuals to choose what they do :)

ReplyDelete- Pedestrian always have the way for example someone is driving in the mall and see somebody crossing they have to stop the car completely until they finaly past to the other site
- When the american are young they usually leave theirs familys.this is very common, when they start going to college
-In colombia "we do say" hi or goodbye with a kiss, the american people dont do that
I think singers and actors are forsed to act this way in some time in their life, now days, it doens´t matter how old are you, the more sexiest the more they sell and the more they are criticized. Now days famous people dont think about young kids, in most of the cases, they only think in money and being more popular than the other. I think that in these days, are few people we can say are a role to be.

ReplyDeleteIt is a very difficult topic, because Miley is a young famous singer and actress, now she is like an idol for young girls.For this reason i thing that all teenagers would like to have a similar life, so miley need to thing what can do and what cannot do! But I know that this kind of celerities have a difficult life and all need have their own life, and they can do whatever they want, because they are people like us. Jennifer Romero

ReplyDeleteI think it is true that many famous people influence the world but they (famous) have no responsibility to be the society's example, I think they should behave properly without harming anyone, they do not deserve to be attributed the great responsibility or to be blamed for the attitudes of youth, because as we, they are people who have qualities and make mistakes. Society just gives people more important to be recognized worldwide. About Miley, she has a career, she wants to grow up in their professional way and I disagree with people who say that she is bad influence to youth. She grew up as hanna montana but I think she wants to rid of this character, also she wants to expand his career. unfortunately many of his fans are children but she can not be blamed for this as well as other singers who somehow are bold in appearance or in their songs have fans of all ages. I think we makes much importance to these issues, it is just music!
I think the most important thing an artist is the image that they have in the world. young people and children want to be like an artist. celebrities are example for young people, they should take care of their image and avoid the bad reviews because this may influence the behavior of their fans
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view I think that although we want to believe that our idols are perfect, rarely they are after all, they are only human beings. But unfortunately, with their power and their reputation a responsibility comes to the public, when a person transforms in a model for the youth, have they to behave in a responsible way? Some say that if they want it or not, when the young people start looking at the famous ones with admiration, those persons must act with some sensibility because they are levelling the way for the teenagers of the world. Some of them say that the famous people have this reputation because they are they themselves, and changing their attitudes they will be in opposition to the intention. Also, they are human beings as us, and mistakes are a part of their natural lives. In addition, the young people learn of the mistakes, and if their idols learn of their mistakes, their fans can learn too. Many of these celebrities are young as Miley Cyrus and it should be very difficult to have to adapt to the reputation and keep a balance in the life. The mass media might show more interest in the well-being of the people, even the celebrities instead of invading their lives.

ReplyDeleteI think that the problem is not Miley Cyrus, she is only a girl who want to become a woman; the problem is our society; in our society always are showing woman’s body; and we have to teach how interpret the things that children watch on tv.
I think it's something hard to judge an artist, after all are human beings who are quite far from perfect, but have to take into realize that they are public figures, and as such has a big responsibility and influence in the minds weaknesses of the young, because unfortunately does not have a clear personality and may want to look like their idols

ReplyDeleteShe is an excellent singer but in my opinion as all human beings she grows so her songs will not be for children all his life. For me, it is not a video too sexy; every artist has the autonomy to choose the theme of their songs and how to show them.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of young people have idols, which are singers, actors, etc. However, the youth create an addiction. Imitating his life, his actions, qualities or defects due to this in our society presents different difficulties which are difficult to handle.
On the other hand the artists live a complicated life because his personal life is known by all and the privacy is violated, so I think that the artists fall into the vices and excesses.

In the world there are many young people famous, these are all each moment are influencing to the teenager, these people famous should be conscious of theirs behavior and theirs actions must think in all the childrens that are develop theirs personality, on the other hand If the teenager have a good education in the school and with their parents the influence will be only a little.
