Uribe for a third term?

The BBC speculates whether or not President Uribe will run for a third term in office in the article in the link below.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8233083.stm

I invite you to read the article and post your comments and opinions about the subject. Do you think Uribe has been a good president? Do you think it is a good idea to have a leader for a long period of time?

I look forward to reading your comments and opinions

  1. I don`t think he should be a leader again. I can not say whether he is a good president or not, but it`s time for him to retire, travel abroad, and enjoy life. He is becoming old and time flies.

  2. Anything in the life is forever, everything has a certain time, for this reason I believe that our president should think of taking a rest after the whole work that generates a country (especially our, Colombia); to have a president for a long period is not good for anybody.... (To analyze neighbouring cases)
I know that good things have been made in his time but these can be better and this will be possible with new ideas.

  3. I definitely will not vote for Uribe. At the end of these two periods, we have the highest unemployment rate in the country, the number of displaced people is the biggest in the world, and the situation of human rights in Colombia is not something we can be proud of. In short, I would say that another period of the same government would be devastating for the democracy and for our institutions.

  4. I think that he has been made good things for the country, the most important is the security. The people can't leave with their family. But he would give the oportunity other person with news ideas.

  5. I can see why people would like Mr Uribe to have another four years in office but I think that eight years is enough for anybody! I think a third term would start to erode democratic institutions and create a heavy dependence on one man. I think Uribe should do the honourable thing and step aside!
